Objectives
By the end of this assignment, you should:
- know how to define a search protocol for a meta-analysis.
- know how to define inclusion criteria for a meta-analysis.
- know how to conduct a literature search for your meta-analysis.
This assignment is due Friday, November 12th at noon.
You do not need to “turn in” anything on Canvas as part of this assignment. Your exercises for this assignment are to complete the literature search spreadsheet
for your group final project. You will only produce one spreadsheet per group. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to complete your search protocol.
- Complete the criteria tab. You should have complete information for all three columns in this spreadsheet.
- Complete the search protocols tab. You should have complete information for all six columns in this spreadsheet (the ‘notes’ field is not required).
- Complete the relevant studies tab. By the due date (November 12th), your relevant_studies spreadsheet should satisfy all the items listed in the checklist below. Your spreadsheet should be ready to be read in by a machine (i.e. R).
- You should have entries for all the studies defined by your search protocol (both included and excluded).
- For all the papers returned in your search protocol, all of following columns should be have values: protocol_id, coder_name, date_added, google_scholar_page, unique_id, paper_citation_apa, link, screening_decision, exclusion_reason (if paper excluded).
- All of your data should be in one spreadsheet (“relevant_studies”).
- Your coding labels should either be ‘include’ or ‘exclude’ (all ? should be resolved prior to April 9 by talking to your group).
- The column labels should be the same as the template and in the same order (it’s fine to add columns to the right to code extra things or make notes).
